4th of July Spectacular: Salute to Our Heroes

Mayor Nuami.

The time has come for Fontana’s annual 4th of July Spectacular and this year is definitely aimed to please all ages and tastes. The event may also bring a few tears to the eyes as we celebrate the heroes that defend our freedom. Join your friends and neighbors at the 4th of July Spectacular which will once again take place at Fontana High School Steeler Stadium, 9453 Citrus Avenue from 5 to 9:30 pm.

Last year over 10,000 people attended the 4th of July Spectacular while they danced to the live bands, looked up in amazement at the sky divers, and slid down and jumped in the enormous bouncy castles. This year promises to be another sell-out event as the City of Fontana has up’d the ante beginning with the live entertainment.

Fans of all ages will dance all night long to surf band Papa Doo Run Run.

One of the San Jose Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bands, the group is well known to older fans for the soundtrack to Deadman’s Curve, the life story of Jan and Dean whom the group toured with for many years. Younger audiences will recognize them as the “Celebrity House Band” at Disneyland from 1975 to 1990. Their single, Be True to Your School was a statewide and national hit. The band also has two gold records, and was nominated for a Grammy.

“To have a band of this caliber performing in Fontana is just another example of why families are attracted to our city and calling it home,” says Ken Herron, director of the Community Services Department, adding “we offer some of the best recreational facilities within the Inland Empire and our residents are focusing more and more on the exciting high quality entertainment that we provide.”

Sky Divers

You won’t have to wait for nightfall to find a few surprises in the sky. Before the show, and the lights begin to fade, a few friendly fliers will pop out from the clouds to land along the race track making for the beginning of a symphony of crowd pleasing oohs and awes.

Fun Zone
