Fitness
in Fontana

Fontana,
California, August 12, 2008. The Mayor and City Council invite the public to
register for upcoming fitness classes in Fontana. Classes are available throughout the
city and include a variety of opportunities for a great workout for all ages.
Miller Fitness Center (909) 428-8363
- Bowling sessions for youth ages 2 to 14 is held at the
Brunswick Foothill Lanes, located at 17238 Foothill Boulevard. Bowling for Cookies
and Milk offers bowlers ages 2 to 8 an opportunity to practice using bumpers. Following
one game the youth and their caregivers are offered cookies and milk. The sessions
are $30 for 8 sessions on Fridays at 4 pm. The last day of the series is celebrated
with a pizza party and high game medals. Bowling, Popcorn, and Soda is for youth ages
9 to 14 and includes 2 games without bumpers followed by popcorn and soda each week.
The class is $40 for 8 sessions beginning Friday, August 22 at 4 pm.

- Golf Lessons at the Sierra Lakes Golf Club, located at
16600 Clubhouse Drive is Saturdays from 9 to 10 am for $70 for 4 weeks beginning August
30. This is a great time to get the whole family involved in golf. Adult lessons for
ages 16 and older are offered at the same time as those for youth ages 8 to 15. Everyone
has an opportunity to practice and improve while having fun. Students are required
to wear collared shirts, slacks, and bring one club, preferably a 7-Iron. Pre-registration
is required.

- Avoid the movies and take out, enjoy some peaceful time with Yoga classes at
Chaparral Elementary, located at 14000 Shadow Drive. Classes are on Mondays beginning
August 25 for $30 for 4 weeks for youth ages 7 and older. Family Yoga offers a moment
for everyone to gather, learn to breathe away stress, and stretch. The class is held
on Mondays from 7 to 8 pm.
- Ice Hockey or Ice Skating for ages 2 to 5 and 6 to 14
is available at the Ontario Ice Skating Rink located at 1225 W. Holt Boulevard. Classes
for children 2 to 5 are held on Thursdays from 6 to 6:30 pm and classes for ages 6
to 14 are offered on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7 pm. Hockey and skating are each $51 for
8 weeks. Pre-registration is required, no on-site registration.
- Don Day Neighborhood Center is the home for Fontana Gymnastics. Classes
are available for Level 1 & 2 for ages 6 and older on Wednesdays from 4 to 5 pm or
from 5 to 6 pm beginning August 27. Tiny Stars Gymnastics for ages 3 to 4 is available
on Fridays from 10 to 10:45 am and 11 to 11:45 am. Each class is for $30 for 4 weeks.
Heritage Neighborhood Center (909) 428-8820
- Jazzercise, the traditional favorite, is offered from
5:45 to 6:45 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to ages 13 and older for $37 for
4 weeks. The workout is a mix of music, dance, and muscle toning.
- Yoga is available for adults ages 16 and older from 9
to 9:45 am on Fridays beginning August 29 for $25 for 4 weeks. Seniors may also join
the class for a reduced fee of $15 for 4 weeks. The class focuses on increasing flexibility,
strength, balance and posture.
- Pilates combines strength training and stretch workouts
to create a full-body workout. The class is $25 for 4 weeks for ages 18 and older from
7:15 to 8:15 pm beginning August 29.
