fun for all ages

Fontana,
California, August 12, 2008. The Mayor and City Council invite the public to
register for upcoming classes filled with language fun for all ages. While toddlers learn
the alphabet, teens will enjoy poetry classes and adults learn English as a Second Language
or American Sign Language.
Heritage Neighborhood Center (7350 W. Liberty Parkway)
- Letter Learner focuses on helping children to learn the alphabet. The class is $12
for 4 weeks for ages 4 to 5 from 9 to 9:45 am on Fridays beginning August 29.
- Let’s Write Out Loud is a poetry class designed to build self-confidence, produce
prose, and increase English academic skills for ages 8 to 16 from 3 to 4:30 pm on Mondays
beginning August 25 and from 11 to 12:30 pm for ages 16 and older on Saturdays beginning
August 30. Classes are $20 for 4 weeks.
Don Day Neighborhood Center (14501 Live Oak Avenue)
- Language Art Tutoring for $25 for 4 weeks is a group session class where students
having problems with reading and comprehension may receive extra help in retaining
information and improving test scores. The class is Tuesdays for students in K through
5th grade from 6 to 7 pm beginning August 26.
- English as a Second Language (ESL) is available to students ages 15 and older for
$40 for 4 weeks. The class is held at Canyon Crest Elementary, located at 11851 Cherry
Avenue on Tuesdays from 7 to 8 pm. Pre-registration required.
- Learn with Fun for $20 for 4 weeks offers fun with music, books, and crafts for
ages 1.5 to 5 on Fridays from 8:30 to 10:30 am or 11 am to 1 pm beginning August 29.
- American Sign Language learn to speak without using your mouth. The class for ages
10 and older is $60 for 6 weeks on Wednesdays beginning September 3 from 5:30 to 6:30
pm.
