Heritage offers exploration of science and technology

Fontana, California, August 12, 2008. The Mayor and City Council invite the public to register for upcoming classes in science and technology. The new science classes at the Heritage Neighborhood Center, located at 7350 West Liberty Parkway offer a new perspective on learning for students of all ages. From Tech Zones to Crazy Chemworks, the Mad Science System 5, and the Academy for Future Space Explorers there is something for the whole family to discover.

Tech Zones are a wonderful way to introduce computers, improve skills, or learn about new software. The Adult Tech Zone and Kid/Teen Tech Zone are $40 for 4 weeks on Tuesdays beginning August 26. The Adult class is from 7 to 8 pm and introduces speed typing, Microsoft Office Suite, the Internet and HTML. The Teen class is from 6 to 7 pm and offers an introduction to speed typing, Microsoft Suite, slide shows, write books, and internet research. A Pee Wee Tech Zone is available for ages 5 to 7 from 5 to 6 pm for $30 for 4 weeks. The class introduces proper keyboarding techniques. Microsoft Word terms, keyboarding, and parts of the hardware.

Crazy Chemworks
is $114 for 8 weeks beginning Monday, August 25 from 6 to 7 pm for grades 2nd through 12th. Participants will become lab scientists in training as they learn laboratory techniques and use lab equipment. Each class ends with a demonstration by the instructor.

Mad Science System 5 for 1st graders is $104 for 8 weeks on Mondays from 5 to 6 pm beginning August 25. The one hour programs have scientific themes including gravity, moving motion, radical robots, and energy burst.

Academy for Future Space Explorers is $114 for 8 weeks for students in 2nd to 12th grade. Mad Science and NASA have teamed to bring the wonders of space to the Academy and includes activities from NASA Langley Center.
