Release Date: August 4, 2008

Fontana, California, July 31, 2008. The Mayor and City Council invite seniors and adults to the all new computer classes being offered by the Josephine Knopf Senior Center, located at 8384 Cypress Avenue. In addition to the regularly scheduled Beginning Computer, Beginning Internet, and Computer II classes, the center will now offer Beginning Keyboarding, Computer Maintenance, and Buying and Selling on eBay and the Internet. All classes are $50 for 5 weeks. Times vary.

The demand for increased proficiency in computers is high. Seniors especially want to learn to do more with their computers. The computer series already offered at the Knopf Senior Center has been expanded to offer all seniors (and adults) an opportunity to learn to do more for themselves on the computer.

Beginning Computer is a friendly and informative introduction to computers and computer software. The class is 9 am or 1:30 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning August 11.

Computer II takes the skills learned in the beginning class and introduces new uses and increases emphasis on software skills. The class is 9 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning August 12.

Beginning Internet provides a safe environment in which to explore and discover the internet. Students learn to surf and shop on the web. The class is 1:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Beginning Keyboarding (Typing) offers individual growth as students learn to type at their own pace. The class is for beginners and professionals searching to improve their speed. Classes are Mondays at 6 pm beginning August 11.

Computer Maintenance is an essential skill for any age. This class teaches the student how to defrag a hard drive, run scan-disc, protect from viruses, create, search for, and back up files. The class is Saturdays from 9 to 11 am beginning August 16.

Buying and Selling on eBay and the Internet introduces shopping and selling itmes safely from home. Some computer experience is preferred. The class is held on Saturdays from 11 am to 1 pm beginning August 16.
