Youth
basketball registrations end August 14

Fontana,
California, August 4, 2008. The Mayor and City Council invite local youth ages 8 to 14 to register
for the fall basketball season by Thursday, August 14. Registration is $45 for residents and $55 for non-residents.
Youth games are held at Almeria Middle School, located at 7723 Almeria Avenue and teen games are held at Ruble
Middle School, located at 6762 Juniper Avenue. Monday/Wednesday practices begin Monday, August 25 and Tuesday/Thursday
practices start August 26.
Fontana has been awarded as one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People by America’s Promise Alliance and
the sports program is one example why the community has been given such a prestigious title.
Fontana youth sports offer fun, exciting, and competitive play for the beginner and advanced players. The social
networking carries on through the parents and coaching staff. The coaches themselves are guided by the Positive
Coaching Alliance (PCA) an award-winning program that has educated more than 5,000 parents and coaches on the
principles of positive coaching.
