PRESS RELEASE
FONTANA TO BEGIN OWN ANIMAL CONTROL FIELD SERVICES
Effective July 1, 2009 the City of Fontana will assume responsibility for Animal Control Field Services, from our longtime contractor; the City of San Bernardino. The City of San Bernardino currently faces budgetary challenges similarly faced by all local governments. San Bernardino will continue to provide sheltering and adoption services to Fontana residents until December 31, 2009.
Residents should continue to seek their lost pets at and adopt new pet companions from the City of San Bernardino-Animal Care and Control Department, located at 333 Chandler Place, San Bernardino, CA 92408. Fontana residents can obtain new dog licenses and renew an existing license at Fontana City Hall-8353 Sierra Avenue, Fontana CA 92335.
The new Fontana Animal Services Team (FAST) will provide animal control field services, initially giving priority to: Sick/Injured Animals At-Large; Aggressive Animals At-Large; Dead Animals in the Rights-of-Way; Dog Bite Investigations and Humane (animal cruelty) Investigations. When the FAST team is fully staffed, we anticipate providing those additional, non-urgent services now provided by San Bernardino, such as: barking dog calls; confined wildlife removal; excessive number of animals calls and animal care outreach education.
The Fontana Animal Services Team (FAST) may be reached (909) 350-7700. Dog License inquiries may be directed to (909) 350-7681. The City of San Bernardino, Animal Shelter may be reached at (909) 384-1304.
We appreciate your patience while we transition animal control field services into the City Organization.
